Saint Aubin Premier Cru Le Charmois 2018 Jean Claude Bachelet et Fils
The 2018 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Charmois mingles aromas of citrus oil, pear, almond paste and struck match in an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, bight and chalky, with a delicately textural attack and a nicely defined, saline finish, it’s another fine success from the Bachelet brothers.
This vineyard is south of the village of St Aubin, bordering the Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru vineyard Les Chaumées. Its east-facing aspect gives the wine a lot of energy in this warm year. Drink 2021-2027.
The estate extends over 10 hectares with parcels of vines in Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. A long, rigorous and careful work is effectuated in the vines, including ploughing and the implementation of sustainable viticulture to the highest degree. Indeed, the quality of the wine is a result of the vineyard producing heathly grapes with moderated yields.
